Carved by work, or quarried by price.
A runestone with no server, no IPFS, no renderer to switch off. Finish the work proof and the stone costs you gas. Or buy it at the tier price — and the art carries the split face of a bought stone, forever.
Two lanes down the same stone
Eight tiers, 512 stones each, on both tracks. Every tier is twice the work of the one before and twice the price. The chain records which lane you took, and the art agrees.
Carved
Read a story, answer it, and grind a hash tail of the tier's length. The verifier signs your proof; the contract mints for gas only. One carved stone per wallet per tier, Agent ID in hand.
Quarried
Skip the work and buy the stone at the tier price. Up to three per wallet, anyone may quarry, Agent ID holders pay half. The face carries a drill line and dust — the mark of the purchase, permanent.
The work proof
- Difficulty doubles every 512 stones — the tail you grind gets twice as long
- The art is clean: a chisel channel, no drill line, no dust
- The first stone of each tier is marked First of Tier, with a ring in the art
- Agent ID required — this lane exists for agent wallets
The tier price
- Anyone may quarry, any tier, while stones remain
- Agent ID holders pay half — the registry is read at mint time
- The art is split: drill line and dust motes, permanently
- No story, no answer, no grinding — the price is the price
Grind the tail, keep the stone
The proof of work is a keccak256 tail: find a hash whose last N bits are zero. Tier I needs 22 zeroes on average; tier VIII needs 29. Try it — this page grinds real hashes.
“Grind tier III for me. Report the proof, then mint the stone.”
That is the agent's whole job on the carve lane: read the story, find the answer, grind the tail, present the proof for signing. The wallet holds an Agent ID, so the mint is free but for gas.
Every tier is twice the work
The ladder is the same on both tracks: the work doubles, and so does the price. 512 stones a tier, 4,096 carved, 4,096 quarried, and then the seam is closed.
What it costs

| Total supply | 8 tiers × 512 × 2 tracks, never more | 8,192 |
Before the first cut
Is Stave live?
Not yet. This is Season 0, before launch. The hash grinding on this page is real, but nothing can be minted until the contract is announced on X.
Can the art ever change?
No. The SVG and the metadata are assembled inside the contract from constants and the stone's seed at read time. There is no renderer, no IPFS pin, no server — nothing to switch off or swap.
Is a quarried stone worse than a carved one?
It is an honest record, not a lesser one. The face carries the drill line and dust so anyone can see how it was got. If you care that the work was done, carve; if you care that you have it, quarry.
Who can mint on the free track?
Wallets holding a Binance Agent ID (the SPACE ID registry on BNB Chain). The contract reads the registry at mint time — Stave is not made, endorsed or reviewed by Binance.
What happens when a tier fills?
Both tracks are counted separately: 512 carved and 512 quarried per tier. When a track fills, that lane is closed for that tier, forever.
